Hello list,
I am looking for some easy to set up predictive dialer for Asterisk.
I don't care if it's not as full-fledged as ViciDial, I want something
that is plug-and-play as much as possible and that can be installed in a
very short time. A web interface would be a plus.
Yours
l.

You aren't going to find a free predictive dialer that has a
point-and-click install. Speed of installation is a relative thing, I
can do a stock VICIDIAL install on top of Asterisk in a very short
time, as Richard can do with GnuDialer as well. It's a bit unfair
because we wrote these two pieces of software so we know how to do a
very fast install.

If you want them installed and are not a command-line kind of person I
would suggest looking for a consultant who can get your system
installed quickly, there are several out there depending on which
software package you want to use.

I liked GnuDialer, but the fact that you have to patch the manager sources
does annoy me a bit. I wonder if there is no other way for a dialer to be
working....
I'll give it a try anyway.

Hi Matt,
I was just wondering if there was something that could be installed quite
easily, without much mangling and patching of internal Asterisk stuff.

well one of the patches is already in svn-trunk, and the other is
currently being 'tossed about' and i'm sure some variant of it
will eventually make it in.

Mangle away Richard :) You can't make great new Asterisk features
without patching some code!

VICIDIAL does not require any applying of patches and will run on top
of just about any installation of Asterisk. The exception to that is
if you want to add Answerign Machine Detection or some of the more
recent fixes like the "show channels concise" patch.(both of which are
now in current SVN)

Something you need to keep in mind is that any patching you need to do
will not be the big consumer of your build time. Patching takes
seconds, configuring/testing the dialer to your specific environment
can take hours or days no matter which dialer you choose.
