what does the debounce setting in zapata.conf actually do ?
(and what is the default) ?
I am having a problem with an electrically noisy hookswitch on a phone
being interpreted as a flash when I answer the phone. (caller gets put on
hold and I get a dialtone as I pickup)

It's hard to imagine how an electrically noisy hookswitch would be
interpreted as "FLASH" instead of pulse-dial 1.

It's easy. There is a subiect of timing.
pulse-1 is 330 ms (US standard, 33%) or 500 ms (Europe, 50%)
hookflash is 180 ms or 700 ms (or other) depends of country or user definition
in PABX
If You want I can look for standards, but tomorrow
Short flash make less problems users
