Chapter 5,
I want to point everyone that this chapter will contain some
"commercial" information, which can make some "conflict of interest". I
will try all my best to avoid it and to make equal descriptions,
priorities for all providers, commercial/non-commercial. For example
list of providers in chapter layout, which I created in the beginning,
will be changed to reflect A-Z priority. So nobody can say, yoo why did
you put your XVOIP on first place or why Voicepulse is on third place.
Unfortunately whole week was terrible and crazy, especially with all our
internal end of year and new project launch projects... But please be
aware, that Chapter 5 , will be taken care :)
I had some conversation on IRC with Blitzridge already, about details
which were put inside Chapter 5 so far. We agreed, that one of important
things, which gonna happen is that Asterisk-Doc is technical DocBook for
Asterisk and not info about Commercial Service providers and Asterisk
implementations for them, so I want everyone's opinion on it. So I am
going to really "moderate" this Chapter 5, to make sure that ALL
PROVIDERS ARE EQUAL, even I personally represent one of providers, I am
not going to make any kind of conflict interest and if someone will see
anything like it, please inform me.
Regards,
Alexander aka Stealth_Man

Can everyone wanting to, or is working on the project, please let me
know what sections it entails?
I would like to generate a list of who's doing what, so we don't work
on things twice. This doesn't mean you can't send in grammar or
spelling fixes, layout fixes, or any other small changes. All I'm
looking for is to avoid having multiple people submitting the same
sections of the document.
This list will be posted on the web site in the next few days.
Thanks,

I don't think a list of VoIP providers can be kept current and it should not be part of
a manual, nor does a list of Asterisk consultants (including myself) fit into a handbook.
I think there should be links to existing lists, on the Wiki and on Digium website.

I'd have to agree. We might state a few examples, and what types of
services or features they may provide, but on the whole, it should not
be an athorative list.
Since we do have the asteriskdocs.org domain (Going to work on fixing
whatever problem I have with it) we can make our own list.

Olle,
Asterisk and Service providers are linked together. We have two types of
providers: free service and commercial ones. List of free providers,
more or less is stable, commercial ones are growing and coming every
day. But still, there are major providers, which people already know and
people will be using them to get connected. It means they will be
looking for info about Asterisk & Providers.
AsteriskDoc is dynamic project; we can add additional providers to the
chapter, if it will be necessary.
I think list of consultants and list of providers are two different
things.
For list of providers, we can refer people to some IRL or List outside
book. For providers, you can't do this. Because I would say 70% of
Asterisk users are connected to providers and getting service already. I
want to point you, that Providers description will be just formal ...
not like we have now in Chapter 5 for one of providers. We will have
heavy docs' as examples how to get connected to them...
