Okay, everyone... I had announced that I was planning to implement
chan_oss in about 6 weeks. Well, it's ready (if you have a full duplex
sound card *only*). Not only that, but I've also prepared some better
sample configuration files so that you can just do "make install" and then
"make samples" and have a working demo PBX even if the only hardware you
have is a *full duplex* sound card, and without your having to configure
anything.
The code and samples are currently in CVS so if anybody is really anxious
you can go ahead and check it out (you may need to do a cvs checkout again
instead of just a cvs update in order to get the sound samples). I'll be
trying to get asterisk 0.1.2 out in the next few days for those of you
that don't want to mess with CVS.
CVS asterisk also includes the IAX VoIP code which I've been using to call
the states (and yes, it now does have the automatic jitter buffer which
tries to keep an optimal jitter buffer, dynamically adjusted through the
conversation). I've been using it from Egypt where I have 800-1000ms ping
times.
