Sorry if this has been covered. I am just looking for a directions on
how to approach this, not an actual solution.
2 questions:
1. What do I use to transcode mp3 stream to a codec asterisk understands?
2. Even if the codec of the file matches, still cannot hear it. what I
am doing wrong?
I am using live555MediaServer. In the first case, obviously codec
negotiation fails, as can be seen from the asterisk output below. I
assume I need some transcoding or translating module. What is it, and
how do I install it.

For the secind question, I am trying to play ulaw-encoded wav file, I am
still not hearing anything. Here is the asterisk output:

try to convert your file to wav with sampling frequence of 8Khz
Then use the command : convert
cs-n0-s0*CLI> convert
Usage: file convert <file_in> <file_out>
Convert from file_in to file_out. If an absolute path is not given, the
default Asterisk sounds directory will be used.
Example:
file convert tt-weasels.gsm tt-weasels.ulaw
The 'convert' command is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
Please use 'file convert' instead.
