Hi,
I want to increase the volume played by the format_mp3 module. How can I do that?
I'm using the asterisk-addons 1.4.7 and files played by format_mp3 is a lower audio then wav files.

Nothing in the format portions of asterisk should be doing anything to
volume. It would be fairly inappropriate for them to change the volume.
What you may need to do is use a program called normalize to bring the
volume of your mp3s up to the volume you are expecting, and then put
your modified files in the asterisk sounds dir. This will benefit from
only modifying the volume once, and not on every playback. If you get in
the habit of checking your files with normalize before deploying them,
you will have a consistent volume level.

The problem is that the sound volume of both my files (wav and mp3) are equals (is already normalized) but when played by asterisk the volume of the mp3 file is played lower than wav file.
The only diference that I watched is that mp3 file is interpreted by addon "format_mp3.so".

No. If I convert the mp3 file to wav the volume when played is increased.

Is the volume still lower when you convert the mp3 to wav and play the
resulting wav file?

I've experienced this as well.
What I had to do was patch format_mp3. There's a #define I had to change.
At first I thought it was the GAIN but it turned out that #define wasn't actually used.
I think it was OUTSCALE. I'll try to verify that.
