Are you using ubuntu?
Usually I have to edit the Makefile in the else section of Global
variable declaration based on architecture
# ASTVARRUNDIR=$(localstatedir)/run
ASTVARRUNDIR=$(localstatedir)/run/asterisk
This seems to do it

In fact, I'm using ubuntu. I do not understand why asterisk do not just
use tha value given in the configuration file :-(

If there's another solution that do not require to compile asterisk I'll
enjoy it :-)
