Hi all.
I am a litle new with asterisk. I just installed F13, before I had centos 5.3. I am learning about asterisk and what I want to learn now is how to configure sip users and voicemail users with mysql.

I installed asterisk from repositories

After searching, I found I should configure res_mysql.conf, but this isnt there in /etc/asterisk..

There is only res_odbc.conf but I am confused about if it is the same or not.. :s and how can I am configure sip users with mysql..

Hi,

Welcome to asterisk world.

If you are trying to install asterisk to configure some sip user and voicemail users then the Mysql files are not really needed at this moment. In case of integration with the database server the mysql and odbc files are required.

What ever may be the flavor or linux (CentOS/fedoro/ubuntu) the Asterisk installation from source is same.

The few files in /etc/asterisk folder will be get enable only after enabling the required features when the time of compiling the asterisk packages.

Regards,
Vinodh
