Hi all,

does anyone already made asterisk work with a Gazel 128 USB modem ?

I use a Debian sarge, asterisk 1.0.7 and isdn4linux drivers.

The modem is well recognized by the kernel, it is registered as hfc_usb0 but asterisk doesn't seem to see it...

I have configured modem.conf with driver=i4l but I don't know how to indicate that it is a
USB modem, not a serial one...

Please help me Smile

if never heard of it, but since its hfc, maybe chan_misdn will accept it ?

I have also tried with mISDN but without success.

I launch the hfcsusb module with modprobe and the required arguments. The modem is recognized.

When I try to start asterisk with the chan_misdn module support, an error occurs, saying that chan_misdn initialization failed...

I don"t see what I am missing Sad

Maybe a configuration problem in the modem.conf file (with i4l)

It's not a possible option for me Sad (it"s for my job)

I finally suceed in using misdn with asterisk and my modem, everything looks to work...

Now, I need to make outgoing calls from a SIP client, using an ISDN line (with a special phone number). Do you know how to configure this in extensions.conf ?

Thanks.

dial zap/g1 should do the trick

(and then your device has to be configured to be in group 1 in zaptel too of course).

Otherwise use dial zap/1 and dial zap/2

Good luck,

Zoa.

Btw, could you post your configs + every step you did to get it working ? So that future people with the same problem can benefit from your experiences ?

(as i dont have such a card myself).

No problem for config files.

But I don't use zaptel hardware, it is a standard ISDN modem.

I have to use something like Dial(mISDN/....) but I'm not sure about parameters (and it's the same for misdn.conf)

Any idea?

I confirm that Gazel USB 128 modems work great with asterisk 1.2.1

Here is a little 'howto' about the subject.

Actually, it's only available in french but configuration parameters are illustrated, so even non-french users can understand the document.

english translation will come soon Smile

The link is broken (again), or expired... Does anyone have an idea where this howto can be found?

Thanks!
