Hi, I'm a new visitor to the group and would like to offer a comment about
line interface hardware.
In the mid 90's, IBM shipped a full duplex sound card plus modem with their
Aptiva brand of PC's. This MWave card was/is a single ISA bus based DSP card
and did a good job of 28.8Kbps modem + phone answering + fax etc.
Unfortunately, they didn't support it beyond Windows 95, i.e. no Windows 98,
no NT, no Windows 2000. It would seem to me that these cards would be
available in the thousands for a song. I don't know whether there's a fit
here or not, but thought I'd mention it.
At one time there was a group that was interested in the ability of having
the MWave card run under Linux. I think there was a procedure to do this
using DOS drivers ? It was at www.flexion.org
