Oops,
I forgot to ask this.
Does Asterisk work with ISDN cards? I have the Digi Datafire BRI Internal
(U interface). This was another reason for leaning towards Win98 and TalkWorks;
the card is better supported under Windows, and the TW program is quite
impressive....

: Hi,
: I'm becoming very bewildered with this field, as I'm researching how to
: implement a PBX in my office. I am a feather's blow away from ordering
: TalkWorks Pro 3.0 from Symantec; it's $129 and does everything I would want it
: to do. Unfortunately, it only runs on Windows.
:
: So, does Asterisk do what TalkWorks Pro does, in terms of the technical
: abilities; I'm not so concerned about the interfaces and graphics. I just
want
: that kind of functionality on Redhat, not Windows...

Does the Digi board support the ISDN4Linux API? If so, adding support
should be fairly straightforward. We had a submitted driver which needs
some work to be fixed up, but other than that would be fine. Certainly
implementing it on ISDN4Linux should be easy. However, I've not been
given the hardware/software combination I need.
Spellcaster was kind enough to donate one of their BRI cards, but it is
not supported by ISDN4Linux properly (the driver causes a kernel panic)
and I've been unable to hear more from them since they sent me their demo
card.
If anyone knows of working spellcaster ISDN4Linux drivers, I'd be happy to
get the card working with Asterisk (I have all the other hardware I'd need
to support it, including the amazing Adtran Atlas which can, among other
things, act as a telco switch for ISDN.

Hi,
i've started to get Asterisk running, and was going to modify the
modem Driver to be able to use at least the /dev/ttyInn devices
provide by i4l. they do behave about the same as a voice modem.
But at the moment i'm stuck with asterisk crashing and no time for it.
