Hi all people,
I am trying to experience the installation of a server making of PC to call
traditional phone (analog). Kindly advise whether "asterisk" can
work. What additional hardware I need ? If NOT please provide me some
pointers about the relevant software, hardware and documentation.

Hi,
nekrad
Thanks for your advice. Could you please explain a little bid more about
the voice-modem you mentioned. I already have a voice-modem which I can
call from PC to PC via ISP/Server. But I need to call from PC to station
phone (ordinary/traditional phone) directly without via a Server. Where
could I find this information/documentation.
Additionally I am also interested to know the technique in setting up a
Server providing this service.
Could you provide me some information/pointer.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards
Stephen

??? voice connection over internet ? has absolutely nothing to do with
this.
many modern modems are able to sample the audio and send it to the host
pc
and of course the other direction. they're called voice modem.
typically the supplier gives you an ugly windoze-app which allows you
talking
over directly over the modem or over the PCs soundcards and also
provides
an answering machine etc.
IMHO most modem modems support voice connections.

read the isdn4linux audio howto.
the command set should be equal to the one of the most voice modems.
