I think, that it is really a bad thing that we need \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Tutorials\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" to configure a sip softphone to work with a sip server. I use mizuphone (from mizutech.hu) as a voip client, and the configuration is very obvious, as it should be with other softphones too. I think, that this is the main reason why people use skype and msn and the others instead of switching to real voip (sip)

All these PCs i.e PC on which Asterisk is installed and two other PC on which X-Lite soft Phone are installed are on the same LAN. Now i want to communicate between these two softphone. when i dial the extension of the phone then the other phone is rining but when i receive the call the voice is not transmitting please help me to remvoe this problem

hi there can anyone recommend a SIP phone that'll work with a Blackberry 8300 Curve, i've looked allover the place, we are on an asterisk server and it's really useful in the office but i'd love to be able to take it out on the road with me.

i really need your help..

i have installed the asterisk software but unfortunately, i wasnt able to call any sip registered users even though they were already at the sip.conf file and at the extensions.conf as well..

i have placed the registered users at the sip.conf this way:

[janeth]
type=friend
context=from-sip
secret=xxxx
qualify=yes
nat=no
host=10.48.1.159
canreinvite=no
defaulttip=10.48.1.159

setvar=CUSTID=0491008

upon registering this user at the extensions.conf is through adding this line at the bottom of the extensions.conf file:

exten=0491008,1,Dial(SIP/janeth)

what will i do in order for me to call the registered user..

Hi ,

I have installed asterisk soft pbx successfully also have registerd two xlite phone on different pcs, one xlite is on the same pc where asterisk is installed with extension 3000 and the other in a different pc with 3001.
and on both xlite phones it shows username 3000 and 3001 respectively.
Now when i tried calling 3001,the status shows calling but on the other phone there is no change it still says "Ready" and username - 3001.
after few secs it says 'Requested timout' on 3000 phone. pl help..
Not able to make a call.

works on windows, linux, mac and pocket pc w/WM5.0 : SIP but not H323

I have a leight weight PDA (PXA255 Windows Pocket PC Version 4.20.0). I have tried JSphone and AGEphone for this device. JSphone locks up my PDA everytime. AGEphone works in trial mode (<1 minute sessions). Sound is not perfect but what can I expect via Wi-Fi (Sandisk SD-card). Hint: Configuration in sip.conf for this device in Asterisk should be allow=all, because disallow=all, allow=gsm does not work, although the connections that I make are gsm. Pitty it is so expensive.

Pankaj your problem as from your indication is in the extension.conf i suppose you are trying to dial out to a number which you might not have defined in your extention ie u might have defined an extention and trying to dial another extention .try tis in your extentio.conf :exten => _X.,2,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN}@mypbx) wher mypbx is the peerin sip.conf .
Ezeetel your solution is you have to create an peer in asterisk sip.cong .. something like ..

[1002]
type=friend
username=1002
;disallow=all
;allow=all
allow=ulaw
allow=alaw
allow=g723
context=outgoing
host=dynamic
nat=yes
canreinvite=no
secret=1002

and put the peer u ahve created in this case in your sofr pon u have to give
host=ur ip if in bound if outbound the fwdin ip
username =1001
psw:1001
cid: anything
number :to dial

hi everyone..........i m new to the giant world of asterisk and voip.......and i need help frm you...........so plzzz help me out

i need to know how to enable the talk between two computers via a soft phone (i.e x-lite) and asterisk...i have checked the connection of asterisk with xlite which is working............i can hear the sound of the .gsm file on the microfone...but when using with the Dial(,,) syntax in extensions.conf it shows me error number 503 on the xlite screen............so plzz help me out
